Predictions for 2020 Retail Commerce: The impact on BOPIS and the role of Data Analytics

The coming year will be an exercise in practical changes for the retail industry. There will be less reliance on new technology and more reliance on technology execution in 2020. My observation across the past year identifies four key transitions that I predict will take place in 2020 which will be most consequential within retail commerce. We'll look at the first two in this blog and the remainder in part two of this series.

Mainstreamed already, BOPIS will be a critical factor for retail success, expect to see BOPIS Sales growth in the range of 30-40% at the end of 2020.
Retailers will collect more data and make more decisions based on data. Gathering both consumer and business data will expand the importance of data analytics. Expect to see 20-25% increase in retail data collection and increased interest to become data-driven, influencing decisions in retail commerce by the end of 2020.
