Oracle Linux for MICROS and Next-Gen Workstations Make Move to Cloud Simpler, More Affordable

The latest enhancements to the Oracle MICROS Simphony point-of-sale platform gives hoteliers a "drop it in and go" operating system – as an alternative to more-expensive Windows – and a new lineup of Oracle MICROS POS Workstations designed specifically to work with it. Together, the operating system and the hardware form a wholly Oracle designed ecosystem that simplifies cloud migration and makes it more affordable. Using the combined offering eliminates additional licensing requirements, requires less operating system computing power, and reduces installation time.
Say hello to Oracle Linux for MICROS and Oracle MICROS Workstation 625E, 625X, and 655X models.
When it comes down to Linux and Windows, it's important to understand that this isn't a contest. It's not about which is better, because, candidly, each operating system's advantages inherently leads to a trade-off. And that's OK, because it neatly delineates the differences between the two and enables hoteliers to assess which configuration best aligns with their specific needs.
