"If you build it, they will come" may have been true in Field of Dreams, but it definitely doesn't apply to your website.
If you want more traffic, you need to tell Google and other search engines exactly what your website is about and why searchers would want to land on your page. You could let the Google algorithm just try to figure it out on its own, but if you want quality traffic, you need to speak to Google in its own language: meta tags.
