Payment technologies were evolving swiftly even before 2020, but as we've seen in many industry sectors with various products and services, the global pandemic is creating a surge in both adoption and innovation. Whereas it hadn't been much of a burden before, now not having to touch a keypad to key in a pin has been immensely appealing to consumers and retailers alike. A recent survey uncovered, 82% of consumers engaged with contactless payments during the pandemic, with 20% of those being new adopters. Likewise, for stores, upgrading their payment infrastructure had been a plan on the horizon, but now it has become an essential item on their wish list. 96% of consumers intend to continue using contactless payments post-pandemic.
