Do you need a content calendar and a content strategy?

You sure do.

But first and foremost, you need to know that a content calendar and a content strategy aren't the same.

A content calendar is like getting a list of ingredients for a recipe. The recipe is the strategy.

By simply having a list of ingredients, you don't know if you're trying to make a salad or a stir fry, right? The same thing exists with a content calendar.

You need to have a strategy to support that content calendar. This strategy showcases:

What the goal of every asset is
What you do with every asset you create
Where the asset gets distributed
How it gets promoted
How actions with the asset circle back up to your business objectives?

Once you answer these questions, you're now thinking about a content strategy and not just a content calendar.
