My name is Abby Cubillo and I am a 22 year old who has acquired a Bachelor of Sports Management from the University of Canberra (completed in November 2021). I am a professional athlete in the sport of basketball with the University of Canberra Capitals, playing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). I have represented Australian junior teams at international tournaments and was also a scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport for 2 years.

I am a proud Aboriginal women from the Larrakia people in Darwin, Northern Territory. I am very passionate and proud about my culture and love using my platform as a professional athlete to make an impact within the community. I have been involved in working groups to organise Indigenous rounds within the WNBL, volunteered at basketball camps and most recently become a mentor through the WNBL to help encourage and inspire the next generation of athletes.

Some of my best qualities include an effective communicator, team orientated, reliable, enthusiastic, hard working and professional. This has stemmed from my involvement with sport as an athlete, as well as my studies at university. I am proficient in the use of Microsoft teams, Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar and Zoom. I am also a fast learner when it comes to new skills and technology.

I have previously worked in customer service as a waitress, as a pharmaceutical assistant and currently as a childcare educator. Along with this I have had work experience (through internships) at Canberra Region Rugby League and Waterpolo ACT.
