Adam Weitsman is an American industrialist, entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. He is the CEO of Upstate Shredding — Weitsman Recycling, a scrap metal and recycling plant with 17 locations across New York and Pennsylvania. His dedication to innovation and technology within the recycling & metals industry have earned his company both national and international recognition. In 2014 and 2016, Upstate Shredding received the Platts Leadership Award for Global Scrap Company of the Year. Upstate Shredding was also named Scrap Company of the Year (Large Category) by American Metal Market in 2015 and 2016.
With Adam at the helm, Upstate Shredding is one of the most technologically-advanced of its type globally. Throughout his tenure in the industry, he's invested in upgrades that have exceeded the U.S. EPA and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation standards, making his company the first green plant of its type in New York.
Adam is a serial entrepreneur with a boots on the ground mentality, skilled in negotiation, budgeting, operations management and customer service. He graduated from Owego Free Academy, attended Long Island University, and will be taking Harvard Executive Continuing Education courses on campus in Spring 2020.
Adam is a passionate philanthropist and is committed to giving back to his community. He is the co-owner of several restaurants in his town of Skaneateles, NY whose net profits are donated to local in-need individuals and organizations. In 2019, he started CNY Tuesdays, a place where community members can share the on-going needs of organizations through nominations and the greater community votes for finalist to receive the weekly $2,000 grants offered by Upstate Shredding.
He is also, and most importantly, a father, friend and motivator.
