I live and breathe deliverability operations, strategy and product management. I both build and product manage tools to monitor and troubleshoot deliverability issues, lead a deliverability consulting practice to guide clients to inbox success, and utilize my technical skills to navigate that ever evolving deliverability and email technology landscape.
I know technologies like DMARC, DKIM and SPF, the difference between strict and relaxed DMARC alignment, and how VERP can help you catch delayed bounces, and why the list-unsubscribe feature only shows up for some senders at Gmail. I can build multi-part MIME HTML emails from scratch, with proper headers, easily decode quoted-printable and encoded subject lines, and track blocking lists and sender scores using bits of shell script widgets I've put together.
I also guide clients on IP warming best practices, how to request unblocking at various ISPs, and explain which blocking lists matter and which ones don't, what to watch for as the BIMI logo standard matures, how to register with Apple's private relay system to send to masked email addresses, and much more.
Some of the things I've built from scratch: A double opt-in broadcast list signup widget. A DMARC-compliant discussion mailing list manager. A SQL-based performance calendar for a jazz club. A domain intelligence tool to help you figure out if that email domain you're sending to is valid. A tool to extract information from millions of spams a month and publish the info as a DNSBL (anti-spam blacklist). A script that downloads report output and rewrites the HTML on the fly to add in useful information and wrap it up into an HTML email suitable for human consumption. And other cool things I can't tell you about.
