Welcome, I'm Alex, a.k.a. the Bearded Sales Guy and my mission is to eliminate poor mental health from sales, and make sales fun for the entire sales team!
My most precious moment of late was when I returned from holiday and my Granddaughter gave me a loving hug and said: “I missed you Popsie, I love you.” Followed with “can I have Popsie Eggs tomorrow”, a term I’ve become known for in my family as I make the best runny eggs and toasted soldiers, a childhood memory of mine, cutting the head off the boiled egg, and dipping toasted soldiers into the runny egg yolk, YUM!
Among a number of things I do, I really enjoy giving back and have always enjoyed helping others. Which is why I mentor the women founders of She Loves Social, a community dedicated to empowering women around the world to confidently walk digital corridors and improve their social mobility.
I also proudly mentor aspiring women leaders for She Leads, the mentoring program for She Loves Data, a Singapore based, non-profit organisation that inspires more than 30,000 women around the globe to become active contributors to an increasingly data-driven world.
Here's the professional bit :-)
I have a 31-year sales career spanning three continents, 24 years in business-to-business sales & marketing and one thing that’s remained constant in my career, relationship development.
Since leaving the corporate world 4 years ago, I've been testing outbound prospecting strategies for new business and existing client development and I have found what works (and what doesn’t).
The challenge is a strategic one. Most businesses have a GTM strategy that is counter-intuitive, with sales leaders “not knowing” why they’re missing their goal!
Relationships are earned, take time and are developed based on trust. To sell anything, you must first have a conversation with your target audience, an act that requires an entirely different approach today, than it did yesterday.
It starts with developing your personal brand, activating your network, creating authentic content and engaging with your audience in a non-confrontational way, that builds credibility and influence over time.
Your audience will then walk towards YOU, for who you are, your shared values and beliefs and the fact that you’re an expert in your field, a genuine person worth having a chat with.
People buy from people.
