Growing up in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, I have always been enthralled by the natural sciences. My parents, both from Latin America, encouraged me to relate to land in a uniquely intimate way, teaching me that indigeneity and environmentalism cannot exist without each other and that degradation of the planet and misuse of natural resources has historically been intertwined with the social and political forces that harmed our communities.

These interests informed my academic experience conducting interdisciplinary research and academic projects focusing on the intersections of land justice and natural resources, especially in Latin America. My experiences all align with my values and interests - being outdoors, connecting with Hispanic and Latinx communities, public speaking, environmental research, and developing outreach and educational programs for students. Ultimately, my career goal is to work to protect natural resources and advocate for land justice and sovereignty.
