Podcast Episode

My interests lie at the interface of technology, aeronautics, strategy and sustainability.

I have a broad professional experience, having worked for airlines, academic institutes and aircraft manufacturers in four different countries. I have dealt with the technical and strategic problematics of the design, operation and maintenance of aircraft, having led numerous design projects and research initiatives in both the industry and academia. I am an experienced public speaker.

I hold a PhD in Computational Aerothermodynamics, an MSc in Aerospace Propulsion and a Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialisation in Aeronautics.

I am appointed as a Lead for Technical Innovation and Emerging Technologies at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, where I work towards the introduction and scaling-up of emerging or established technologies in different divisions of the company. At the same time, I am affiliated with the Aviation department of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (where I used to work as an Associate Professor and Lab Lead), providing my strategic vision for a future where Operational Efficiency and Sustainability will be the main drivers for transformation in aviation.

I chair the Analytics for Aircraft Operational Data (AOD) Working Group of the Independent Data Consortium for Aviation, known as IDCA. I co-chaired for 4 years the Data Management and Machine Learning Design subgroups of the SAE G-34 / EUROCAE WG-114 Joint International Committee for the certification of Artificial Intelligence-based Technologies in Aviation.

I sit in a number of Technical and Expert Committees and Working Groups in the fields of Artificial Intelligence in Aviation & Aerospace, Future Aircraft Architectures and Sustainable Transformation.

I co-founded GIVE, an Athens-based start-up, specialised in Green Vehicle Development and Engineering Consulting.

I was invited to talk in events organised by the Alan Turing Institute, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Dubai Airshow, the Wolrd Summit AI, Science | Business, as well as numerous academic institutes, among others.
