Vice President and GM of Google Cloud Platform and Technical Infrastructure, where I lead Product and Engineering with and organization size of XX,XXX. This includes Developer Experience, Security, Cloud Native Services, Compute, Storage, Networking, Databases, Data Analytics, Hardware, Platforms, Cloud Programs, and more. Since starting in Google Cloud, I have helped Google Cloud move from a niche player in 2015 to today competing head-to-head with Azure and AWS as one of the top 3 cloud providers with $XXBillion ARR. This includes delivering solutions and products to meet the needs of Enterprise customers, where Google Cloud is now a well established leader in the Infrastructure, Databases and Data Analytics quadrants/waves for Gartner and Forrester. This includes a customer focused approach that goes way beyond lift and shift where we partner with our customers on how to digitally transform their business. At the same time we continue to lead the industry in areas that are part of Google's DNA, such as the scalability of our solutions, data analytics, machine learning, and changing the way infrastructure and services are managed across all Clouds and on-premises (e.g., Kubernetes, Anthos, gRPC).
Before coming to Google in 2015, I was a VP of Engineering for Microsoft Azure. I started Azure with a handful of others in 2006, and helped drive it to over $1Billion ARR by end of 2014.
Before Microsoft, I was a tenured Professor at the University of California, San Diego in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (from 1997 to 2006) where I graduated 14 PhD students, and published over 100 papers in the areas of systems, architecture and compilers (h-index of 71).
45 issued/granted US patents in the areas of cloud storage, cloud computing and highly available/reliable/scalable distributed systems
