Brandon Butler is a Research Manager at IDC covering enterprise networking. In this role, Mr. Butler focuses on enterprise campus and branch networking, including enterprise switching, Wi-Fi, routing and emerging technology such as SD-WAN. His research also covers on the ongoing development of software tools and cloud-based products for managing campus and branch office networking. While contributing to ongoing forecast and market share updates, he also assists in end-user surveys, interviews and advisory services and contributes to custom projects for IDC’s Consulting and Go-To-Market Services practices.
Prior to becoming an analyst, Mr. Butler spent more than a decade in various facets of the media industry, including a six years as a Senior Editor at Network World where he covered a trends in enterprise networking, from the rise of the cloud to the evolution SDN. He was a founding member of the IDC Teck Talk video series and contributed to a variety of in-depth reports across various platforms. Prior to his work at Network World/IDG, he worked as Editor of the MetroWest 495 Biz Magazine and a Senior Writer at the Worcester Business Journal. Previous roles include being the lead reporter for a local daily newspaper in Fitchburg Massachusetts and interning at both the Washington Post website and Agence France Press newswire. Mr. Butler has a passion for high-quality writing, market analysis and presentations across a variety of platforms including video, audio and social media.
