Dustin Cole has served in several engineering leadership positions. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. His start in the metal building industry came in the form of a college internship. Over the last thirty years Dustin has gained extensive engineering experience in the design of steel framed buildings. He has designed buildings ranging in sizes from 100 to more than 500,000 square feet while adhering to national, state, and local code requirements. He has been instrumental in the development of best practices for designing structurally sound buildings while maintaining budgetary and scheduling constraints. Dustin is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was active with the Oklahoma Structural Engineers Association (OSEA) for many years. Serving as OSEA’s Executive Director from 2000 to 2015, Dustin has performed the duties of secretary and treasurer while providing ongoing assistance to OSEA’s officers as they prepare for monthly meetings and semiannual conferences. He is currently a director for the Structural Engineers Association of Nebraska and involved in committees developing ASCE 7-22. Dustin is licensed as a Professional Engineer in all fifty states, the District of Columbia and five Canadian provinces including licensure as a Structural Engineer in five states. He has given several presentations regarding metal building design and building code structural provisions. Dustin serves on the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) Technical Committee. Beyond structural engineering he enjoys outdoor activities of hiking, biking, kayaking, and finding new places for his wife to enjoy nature photography.
