"It’s time for English!”
Mr. O'connor's announcement was like an air raid siren that slapped the excitement out of the other 29 students in the classroom.
"Ohh no-."
(The few muffled protests of distress faded under his fierce panoptic glare.)
As silence befell the room, a celebratory "Yes!” escaped my mouth from the back of the class. I eagerly doubled over my blue plastic chair & pecked down towards the desk in search of my English workbook—my reaction was so rapid that I didn't notice the reaction of my peers.
Maintaining the ostrich-like pose, my head still buried beneath the darkened underside of the desk, I yanked the workbook out of my scruffy red schoolbag and slammed it on the table.
Thwack!
Alarmed by the near pin-drop silence, I wearily resurfaced from beneath depths of the table to a now indelible memory:
29 wide-eyed students quizzically twisting towards me with bewildered expressions that'd be apt if an extraterrestrial zapped into my seat and rapped Eminem’s "Rap God."
Unfortunately, my passion for English was a mystery to my fellow pupils (preposterous, right?).
Those silent seconds in Year 4 sealed my fate as the class "writer." (More like the weird kid who liked English. But hey, cut me some slack. I'm the hero of my story!)
My earliest memory of computers is associated with crafting stories on a clunky Compaq with a heavy, oblong monitor—and I’ve fallen in love with wielding the power of words ever since.
Fast forward to today, and my passion for writing has evolved into a love for content marketing, SEO, and entrepreneurship.
When executed correctly, content marketing and SEO are an exciting blend of sharp business strategy, out-of-the-box creativity, and analytical thinking.
That's enough to exercise a skills-obsessed, curious, and results-oriented hungry mind like mine—and is why I'm in love with the work that I do! :)
