I've written professionally since 1999. I also have over 20 years' experience in public relations, 19 years' experience as a professional blogger, and 17 years' experience in indie publishing.
In 2004, I launched a small PR consultancy specializing in music PR for indie artists. (I have passion for, and a long history with, all things indie.) This is also when I first got involved in web development and web publication, launching a regional webzine at AudioXposure.com featuring area artists.
Before that I worked a mix of retail marketing and event planning, then I spent time handling PR, event work, and more for a major international nonprofit. Between the corporate hellscape and combination of politics and waste on the nonprofit side, it wasn't long before I said "f* it" and went out on my own. And I've never looked back.
These days my consulting and freelance writing services don't focus solely on musicians. Instead, I became an early specialist in social media consulting alongside online PR and new media (think blogging, podcasting, etc.). Now I focus on working with creative professionals of all kinds alongside small and mid-sized businesses, largely online entrepreneurs.
Over the years, I've owned or managed well over 100 websites, both my own and clients'. I've handled technical and design elements, served as a contributor, and worked in an editorial capacity hiring and managing writing teams. What can I say? I've always loved to build things.
My main sites today include AllFreelanceWriting.com, FreelanceWritingPros.com, and KissMyBiz.com. Services are featured at ProBusinessWriter.com.
If there's anything you should know about me, it's that I have an impeccable bullshit detector, an even lower tolerance for it, & a long history of calling it out. And I am a fierce defender of newer freelancers, whom I've spent nearly two decades teaching and helping, especially against the likes of insta-experts, content mills, & race-to-the-bottom bidding marketplaces that routinely exploit them.
I'm not on LinkedIn to connect with clients. I rarely have openings. But I'm happy to refer you to colleagues.
Instead I'm here to connect with freelance writers, bloggers, PR / media folks, and online entrepreneurs, especially those focused on combatting disinformation rather than contributing to that noise.
