Born in the Mid-West and raised on the East Coast, Julie’s exposure to different environments created a passion for homes, architecture and design at a young age, and she has since dedicated her career to interior design. With an eye for spatial relationships and creative problem solving, Julie’s interiors bring functional sensibility and tremendous flow while achieving beautiful proportions. Not afraid to mix color, texture and scale, Julie’s homes provide unique and unparalleled “livable luxury”.

Julie completed her education in Interior Design in 1998, achieved CID licensure and became a professional ASID member in 2002. Eighteen years ago, Julie moved and expanded her business from a small office location as a sole proprietor into a showroom venue – Design Matters. By allowing clients to receive professional design services paired with a wide array of the best materials from the most respected vendors, Design Matters is a one-stop design firm and showroom that eases the process of transformation for homeowners as they embark upon creating their newly tailored environments.

Julie relates her transformation of homes as if writing a novel. The cover is the approach to the house, flooded with visual importance and first impressions. The book is then opened and the forward is read. As you step into the entry the home is visually received, providing an introduction of what is to come. As the chapters of rooms unfold, Julie entwines threads of continuity that bring purpose and harmony to each space, creating an overall depth of meaning that ties the entire home together from beginning to end.

As a featured speaker on radio and online forums; a noted contributor to architecture, design, living and style magazines; a requested university guest speaker and televised interior design contributor for HGTV, Julie’s dedication to her craft and field remain her passion and commitment – a passion and commitment that is palatable and contagious!
