I feel fortunate to have worked in the space of technology and healthcare for most my 20-year career. Excited and optimistic about the ways we can impact patient care, I love solving the problems of today while thinking of tomorrow.
For many years, I worked in several areas of technologies that impact our care delivery: i.e. medical records, portals, adt, and insurances; along with gamut of overarching regulations, compliance, and security. Additionally, I enjoyed an opportunity to work on large data sets for analysis within translational sciences and genomics.
However, we still work in silos of problems and data—care continuum is reinvented with new initiatives and money flowing each day but still lot more needs to be done to address waste, inconsistencies, and overspending. Not to mention declining patient care and overall wellness.
I’m working on the simple yet complex problem of connecting oral health to the overall wellness of the human body, where I feel I can make a difference.
Why is it simple yet complex? Because most primary care physicians will ask, “How many times do you exercise in a week?” but hardly any ask, “How many times do you brush in a day?” and it is left for a dentist. But only 50% to 60% of Americans have regular access to adequate dental care.
It will take many hands to connect these dots, and I started simply with bottom-up approach to democratize these hidden data silos. The valuable data is available, but only within the dental providers’ offices. This is only step one—we’re already learning a lot, so stay tuned!
I invite like-minded entrepreneurs and individuals to join this exciting journey.
