I'm a technology journalist with over three decades of experience; I've worked in-house at a major magazine publisher and at AOL in the early days of online content. Now I'm a freelance writer contributing regularly to CIO.com, TechRepublic, ZDNet, The New Stack, Code Matters and a wide range of other titles. Over the years I've written for many outlets from the Guardian and the FT to SFX magazine, Pocket Lint, Tom's Hardware and Data Center Knowledge. I was also the launch and executive editor for IT Expert, a (short-lived) title covering small business IT consultancy.
I cover a wide range of topics but I specialise in Microsoft . I've co-written two books on Windows 8 with my writing partner, Simon Bisson. I've also published some folk stories and short mysteries about the world of tech on Amazon Kindle: that includes the Cassidy Smith series of technomysteries, The Vampires of Silicon Valley and The Lord of Death stories.
I cover consumer, small, business, enterprise and developer markets within technology, writing reviews, news, tutorials, interviews and features. I'm also available for commercial copywriting; I've written and edited white papers, case studies and other commercial editorial for a range of clients.
I'm always interested in new contacts for interviews and profiles, in new technology stories and in potential commissions for editorial or commercial work.
