My favorite story involves a terrible explosion, a Zamboni caught in the crossfire, and the 9-year version of myself focused on one thing - grabbing my pink sneakers before the building collapses.
My second favorite story involves a plethora of rejection emails, one print publication, and a pun-heavy poem about the relationship between the feet and the body.
My third favorite story involves my grandfather, a couple of bottles of milk delivered every morning, and a boy who would one-day pack stadiums singing about a ‘Piano Man.’
My whole life I’ve been collecting stories and keeping them in the spaces I can find - my diary, tucked between pages and grabbed quickly out of pockets before they go through the wash. As an English graduate, I learned to dissect stories and interrogate them, as a PR graduate I learned to create stories and nurture them. This led to a complicated relationship with stories, but one that always leans towards mutual admiration. I grow with my stories, and they grow on me.
That’s my story - what’s yours?
