Peter Weis has over 20 years of global CIO experience, most recently as Global CIO of Matson, a $3B publicly traded logistics, transportation and supply chain company (NYSE: MATX). His leadership track record spans both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies.

Peter currently advises technology start-ups and VC firms on product, sales, commercial and organizational strategies. He also speaks, writes about and advises main street street companies on the realities of achieving REAL digital transformation.

Most recently he led Matson’s successful multi-year cloud transformation that fully re-built the IT Services organization and refreshed Matson’s entire applications portfolio. Data centers are gone, costs are down, velocity is up, and legacy systems are in the rear view mirror. Matson is now a 138 year-old company that operates its global business 100% in the cloud. Matson's logistics and transportation units are consistently top-rated in their industries, recently ranking as the #1 ocean transportation provider in the world, both overall and in IT, for 3 consecutive years. In 2018, Matson was recognized by Computerworld as "One of the Best 100 Places to Work in IT."

While at Matson, Peter also founded and led Matson Logistics Supply Chain, a global logistics business unit, from 2011 to 2016. Under his leadership, this business unit achieved profitability within two years, and grew at 50%+ annually, managing customer supply chains in Asia and Europe for 50+ customers.

Prior to Matson, Peter was Vice President, Products at GT Nexus, a pioneer in SaaS global supply chain software that was acquired by Infor for $675 million in 2015. He also served as the first CIO of APL Logistics, a large global 3PL whose growth strategy was fueled by technology.

Peter's other passion is teaching. He was a lecturer at UC Berkeley's School of Information for five years, where he built a curriculum and taught a business course to technology students: "Where Business Meets Technology."

He holds an M.B.A. with Honors from the Wharton School and a Bachelor’s degree from the Haas School of Business.

Peter is a 2014 inductee into the CIO Hall of Fame.
