First and foremost - I like solving problems. The more challenging and complex the better.
An Electrical Engineer by profession, I and started out as an Instrument and Electrical Engineer in the Petro-Chemical Industry (ICI Australia). By a strange twist of fate, while helping build a polymer plant, I later found myself as a production DBA and network administrator / process integration specialist.
My experience with Oracle technology goes back to 1990 with version 6.0.34 on VMS. Way back in the past, I also picked up a double major in Pure and Applied Chemistry. The only explanation being that it seemed a good idea at the time and was a lot of fun.
In 1995, Oracle made me an offer I couldn't understand and I been with the company since then. Starting in Oracle Australia, I moved to Oracle Canada in 1997 and now cover customers across North America and Canada. My focus has always been Oracle Applications and their technology: specializing in large, complex, multi-pillar architectures and troubleshooting.
I am the co-author of the Oracle Applications Tuning Handbook with Andy Tremayne and have contributed to a range of whitepapers focusing on Applications, networking and technology.
