“I don’t know everything, but what I do know, I know well.”
While I can’t take credit for that quote (it belongs to one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met, my Choate professor, Mr. Menon), it has had a great impact on my professional development.
The desire to know what I do know very well, has taken my career down a storied path that began as a copywriter and finds me now as a digital and social media marketing professional with a lot of zigzags along the way.
Here are some highlights:
♦ I noticed that companies needed help humanizing their brands, so I assembled a panel of experts to show them how and why they should. Our panel was the most popular panel at HBA 2012.
♦ I saw that there was no easy way to sample beauty products, so backed by Austin, TX incubator, Capital Factory, I created Smackages.com, one of the first personalized beauty box services.
♦ I saw that Dallas singles had more disposable income and local charities needed donations, so I created Singles: Remixed to raise money and awareness for Dallas non-profits.
I love solving problems. One problem in particular that I enjoy solving is finding the sexy in “boring” brands.
When I see an industry that believes only B2C brands can have fun, be cool and be "liked", I swoop in and do whatever’s necessary—build infrastructure, train teams, or find tools—to develop campaigns that hit the right note with clients and set them apart in their industry. That explains why some of the industries I’ve worked with include: videoconferencing cart manufacturers, healthcare, property management and IT.
