Professor of Clinical Psychology and Head of the School of Mental Health and Psychological Sciences at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. KCL. Has championed the involvement people with mental health problems in research. She founded and was the first Director of the Service User Research Network (SURE) at KCL. Current research includes developing and testing novel psychological treatments for people with schizophrenia, particularly the cognitive remediation software, CIRCuiTS. Also involved in eHealth and mHeath projects to benefit and empower people with mental health problems and those with neurological disorders.
The latest exciting study involves testing different methods of implementing cognitive remediation treatment in services for people in touch with Early Psychosis services in the UK. The results will help to tailor treatments to individuals so they receive the most benefit.
Editor of Journal of Mental Health, a peer reviewed journal that encourages mental health service users to take part in research and as authors of papers.
She leads the Cognitive Remediation Experts Workshop - the world discussion group of people who develop and rigorously assess cognitive remediation treatments for people with schizophrenia and other mental health disorders.
