Sebastian is part of the founding team of Syfe (www.syfe.com). Prior to that, he was the Chief Marketing Officer of Lazada Indonesia. After graduating from Vienna University of Economics and Business with a degree in finance, Sebastian started his career in brand management at Procter & Gamble. He then joined Lazada as one of their first employees and saw them through the acquisition by Alibaba Group Inc.
In 2005, two friends and I had an idea of making it easier for people to shop online. That idea became Klarna, which today is the most valued fintech company in Europe. With 85 million shoppers and 205 000 retailers in our family, Klarna is the biggest Buy Now Pay Later company in the world. And we are far from done.
We are growing like crazy, especially in the US where we saw a +230% growth in retailers in 2019. Some of the biggest e-commerce players have joined us on our journey, such as H&M, Ticketmaster, ASOS and Footlocker.
15 years later, I am still the CEO of Klarna, and I am still as passionate about the business. Through these years, Klarna has become so much more than just a payment provider. With us, you will get a true partnership. In my position, I am also lucky to get a lot of industry insights in chats with many other CEOs in the business.
