Sr. Production Manager, Digital & Multimedia at Aprimo
Video producer. Marketing Cheat Codes podcast showrunner. Animator. My main goals are to educate and entertain. At Aprimo, a B2B SaaS company, I am the primary resource for development of video, audio, photography, and motion graphics-based projects across departments. Playing a critical role in the global brand experience through digital media deliverables and processes that guide marketing and field efforts, I have a continued focus on Aprimo’s overall visual representation and customer experience, both online and in-person.
My background is in education, events, documentary production and advertising, with projects that have been used at international conferences, screened at major film festivals, played on television, radio, and print. After early work at Leo Burnett and leading student filmmaking programs with Adobe at Cannes and Sundance, I completed a Master of Science in Digital Cinema Production. The classroom was still calling my name, so I taught advanced multimedia courses at a college prep school in Chicago, then moved on to manage the video studio and create curriculum content for the first fully accredited online culinary program. Over the past decade I also worked on large-scale physical events, and spent several years as project manager for a virtual event and live-streaming platform, building digital experiences and global product launches for tech companies, nonprofits, and publishers. When I'm not working or volunteering, you can find me going analog, exploring parks and nature with a film camera in hand.
I'm the co-founder of a content marketing agency called Omniscient Digital, and I run the experimentation / CRO program at Workato.
I write mainly at alexbirkett.com.
The majority of my time is spent as husband to a beautiful wife and father to two little boys and a dog. Other fun facts: I love the color grey. I hate onions. I believe marketing should be responsible for generating revenue. I have an unhealthy obsession with my weighted blanket. B2B should copy B2C whenever possible. I have an abnormally large appetite for all things military history. I love the challenges of scaling revenue at high-growth, venture backed software companies.
Chief Marketing Officer
I serve the marketing team at Lessonly, a training and enablement software company based in Indianapolis, IN. The team consists of amazing designers, growth marketers, customer marketers, field marketers and inbound/outbound sales reps. I apply the lessons learned while working at a venture capital firm, an IPO, an acquisition by one of the largest software companies in the world to drive revenue at Lessonly.
Published Author
I'm the author of three books: Twitter Marketing for Dummies (Wiley, 2010), Branding Yourself (Pearson, 2011), and Social CRM for Dummies (Wiley, 2012). The following titles have been published in five languages and seven countries.
Marketing and Digital Trends Speaker
I've spent the last eight years traveling the world speaking at marketing and technology industry events on topics including: content marketing, collaborative consumption, consumer behavior, email marketing, technology trends, digital marketing strategy, demand generation, B2B marketing and social media management.
Other
I've also been recognized as one of Indiana’s Forty-under-40 by the Indianapolis Business Journal, Anderson University's Young Alumni of the Year and TechPoint's Young Professional of the Year.
Sell with your buyers, not to them I Writing and templates for enterprise sales teams
Selling with buyers (not to them) is my jam 🤟🏼
If you're an AE or sales leader focused on enterprise sales, complex sales, or landing larger B2B sales, you'll see how to make this shift if you follow me. And, you'll find my content is different from most. You see, I don't believe sales reps close deals. Buyers do.
That's because the make-or-break moments in a complex deal happen without sales reps in the room. Buying decisions are made during internal meetings — not sales meetings — when champions pitch their own team, in their own words. So the content, frameworks, and downloads I post help you build champions, and enable them with a clear, compelling message to sell with you.
