My professional career started out as the world's worst SDR. I was terrible. Absolutely awful. I spent 6 months dialing 80 times a day until I realized I had two options, quit or figure out a better way. I was also the guy who didn't put his college GPA on his resume because it was 🤔 ... less than stellar. With no other prospects on the table I leaned into figuring out something new.
It was 2011. "YouTube was for posting cat videos", but I decided I was way better with a camera than I was with a phone. I partnered with a subject matter expert to start a weekly YouTube series. Growth was slow at the beginning, but luckily I worked for pennies so nobody really noticed 🤷🏼♂️.
After some experimentation, listening to audience feedback, learning how to create community through content, and stacking growth; we grew our following to 1.1 million followers across YouTube (700k), Facebook (250k), Instagram (100k) and eventually TikTok (40k).
