Jay Acunzo Claimed
Podcast Host, Unthinkable | Author, Speaker, Tinkerer
I host the podcast Unthinkable, write the weekly newsletter Playing Favorites, and develop podcasts and docuseries for mission-driven brands, authors, and entrepreneurs. I'm also a frequent keynote speaker, and the author of the book Break the Wheel. It is my personal, professional mission to help others make work that matters -- to their careers, their companies, and their communities. I see creativity as a form of problem solving and leadership. It's a means of raising your hand to lead and investigate and improve things, and I want to help others frame their work as such. That can help us see the work and the world better and differently. Before becoming a content entrepreneur, I held marketing and media roles at Google, HubSpot, and the VC firm NextView. My biggest ambition and maybe grandest delusion is to be the Anthony Bourdain of business storytelling :)

Krispy Kreme Global CIO | Multi-Industry Chief Digital/Tech Officer | Advanced Tech | Operations at Scale
Joyful experiences are essential for our mental well-being. They help us stay positive, build resilience, and connect with others. We can find joy in the simplest of things, like savoring a warm doughnut on a chilly winter morning. Now I get to focus on bringing the joy of Krispy Kreme to people around the world! Throughout my career, I've built differentiating global technology capabilities, transformed businesses, launched digital product lines, expanded retail channels, and created technical products and services lines of business - and I build global teams that reflect the same degree of diverse experiences. As an independent director, I serve on the boards of Zurich North America (property and casualty, and life), a leading multi-line insurer helping US customers develop resilience strategies as they meet the risk challenges of today and tomorrow. Additionally, I volunteer on the board of Freedom School Partners, a non-profit committed to promoting literacy in the Charlotte area, on the board of the American Heart Association of Charlotte promoting heart health, and on the board of T200 promoting women executives in technology. I also serve on the University of Tennessee Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development board and AI subcommittee, the advisory board of the Tickle College of Engineering and the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. I also serve on the advisory board for UNC Charlotte's College of Computing and Informatics. These experiences have expanded my perspective and allowed me to give back while tackling difficult problems together with smart and driven people. Throughout my career, I've tried to find ways to contribute to the general body of knowledge in multiple domains. I'm a published author with Addison-Wesley and Prentice-Hall, hold US patents related to dynamic authorization in high-volume transactional systems, and have served as an Entrepreneur in Residence, Mentor, and Advisor to venture groups and incubators on both US coasts. I remain a Fellow of the International Association of Software Architects. The views and opinions expressed here are solely my own, not necessarily those of affiliated organizations.

Senior Accessibility & Inclusion Specialist | I elevate the ways we support ALL humans at the heart of organizations🦻🧠⚧🏳️‍🌈 | #A11yWithAngela
When I was born ten weeks early weighing 2 lbs 9 oz, the doctors told my mother that I’d never finish high school, let alone take care of myself. A few decades and a Doctorate degree later, I can confidently say that they were wrong. Mistakes like this can lead to fun anecdotes, but all too often misconceptions about those who are different create harmful outcomes. Not just for the person who is neurodivergent or disabled - but for everyone. Neurodiversity isn’t just a DEI buzzword; it is a competitive advantage. Companies miss out on high-performing employees and innovative solutions when their hiring practices are not inclusive. That’s why I’m a strong advocate for scalable, systemic, organizational initiatives that drive diversity and inclusion. As a member of the invisible disability, Deaf, Neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ communities, I’m passionate about leveraging my lived experiences to drive this mission forward. As a leader in inclusion & accessibility, I have been building bridges between mainstream communities and underrepresented humans for over 20 years. My work has led to initiatives that broaden the reach of accessible education and employment practices in the DC area and beyond. Past accomplishments include: - Training teams of recruiters on strategies for making hiring practices more inclusive of neurodivergent job seekers - Increasing accessibility features within children's programming to ensure that all youth can engage, learn, and enjoy the content, leading to a 32% increase in revenue growth - Leveraging needs-based evidence to organize and pilot inclusive after-school clubs that increased 64% of club's participation within educational settings - Developing curriculum that broadens the reach of accessible education within STEM & the sciences in a brand new position serving underrepresented communities - Transforming baseline data into innovative & accessible math and science educational content, leading to an average 60% increase on state assessments In my efforts to constantly push boundaries, innovate, and step toward problems, I leverage my personal experiences and professional expertise infusing inclusive practices to meet diverse client needs. What drives me is my profound desire to make a positive impact on those I lead and the world around me. Accessibility makes the invisible visible by bringing to light ways that make life easier for EVERYONE, not just people with disabilities. If you’d like to hire me as a consultant or speaker, or discuss a DEI initiative for your organization, send me a message and let’s connect!
